Sturgeon Ventures LLP was founded in 1998 as a single family office, which invested in public stock markets around the world as well as private companies. The Partners, love of being involved in the growth and nurturing of private companies, led to the creation of the Incubator. Initially there was no sector focus, incubation was across all sectors, in 2003 a sector specialisation began in financial services and wellness.

A London-based company, Authorised and Regulated by the FSA {The Financial Services Authority}, Sturgeon Ventures LLP (FRN # 452811) is the most established FSA Regulatory Incubator/Umbrella in London. Sturgeon Ventures LLP has incubated people and firms since 1999. Incubation allows a firm to build a track record, whilst achieving critical mass.

This service has and is being used by British financial service startups. It has also been widely used by foreign firms, both European and those from the United States, starts ups and established firms wishing to begin regulated investment business in the UK, in a timely manner. the incubation is before and during the time of applying for their own Independent FSA Authorisation. Sturgeon Ventures LLP – Corporate Finance team specializes in putting start-up and expansion phase businesses that require capital in touch with those in a position to supply it, we do not provide it ourselves. We also act as a management consultant, throughout the life of a small-mid capitalized firm.

And our success is such that we now enjoy a burgeoning reputation as a leading UK Venture Catalyst.

Seonaid Mackenzie hatched and has nurtured Sturgeon Ventures since 1998, whilst at concurrently incubating FSA regulated people and firms, typically other corporate finance advisory firms, third party fund raisers for hedge funds and investment management firms in the UK, before receiving their own regulated status with the FSA {references from past and current incubatee firms on request}. The Partnership also hatched a Wellness Company.

With over fifteen years experience in the US public equity markets, Seonaid felt how the entrepreneurial spirit encouraged in the United States was less enthusiastically received in Britain and Europe, and set out to actively contribute to changing this.

Sturgeon Ventures LLP
Sturgeon Ventures LLP {SV} takes particular care to match personalities and skills. Seonaid’s corporate finance team, led by Michael Waller-Bridge, will personally communicate with all the companies who send a proposed business plan; after an initial contact SV will ascertain whether or not the BP is suitable to be presented to the investment community. If not they will, by arrangement, assist the company in making it so, and then suggest and assist in taking the best route forward.

Our database of high net worth qualified investors comprise of qualified professional investors, family trusts and those who have recently sold their own companies and are looking for an investment in which to take an active role.

Seonaid actively managed a US Family Office until 2001 investing in the public domain. She has remained an advisor to the family to date, on their UK and European Private Company investments. As a passive door opener for companies seeking joint venture partners or investment from companies in a similar industry, this has proved a unique asset.

Seonaid has also developed a unique “Compliance Consultancy”, helping companies register their businesses with the FSA, in a more economic way than her peers. Once the firm is on its feet following an incubated period, SV transitions them through their own FSA Authorisation process and seamlessly continues with Compliance Monitoring Procedures. This is in conjunction with Alan Thomas & Shirley Gibson, between them they have in excess of 12 years experience in the field of FSA Regulation within the fund management and corporate finance worlds, Alan also having been an advisor to IMRO from the buy side.
